  • Student Organization: College Expectations for Behavior./01. Alcohol and Drugs./a. No members, collectively or individually, shall purchase for, serve to, or sell alcoholic beverages to any minor while on Organization Premises or during an Organization-Affiliated Event, in any situation sponsored or endorsed by the organization, or at any event an observer would associate with the organization. More specifically, the possession, sale, use or consumption of alcohol beverages must comply with any and all applicable laws of the state, province, country, city and College, and must comply with either BYOB Guidelines or Third Party Vendor Guidelines.
  • Student Organization: College Expectations for Behavior./01. Alcohol and Drugs./d. The purchase or use of a bulk quantity or common source(s) of alcoholic beverages, for example, kegs or jungle juice is prohibited.
  • Student Organization: College Expectations for Behavior./01. Alcohol and Drugs./e. OPEN EVENTS, meaning those with access by non-members of the Student Organization, without specific invitation, where alcohol is present, are prohibited.

Sanctions: 

  • Probation effective March 24, 2026 through May 21, 2027
  • Alcohol Education Skills-Based Training: At a scheduled chapter meeting, a representative of Office of Student Life and/or the Office of Student Conduct will present an alcohol risk reduction and bystander intervention training for the organization’s membership. The training will focus on recognizing signs of intoxication, responding to high-risk alcohol situations, and strategies for intervening to prevent harm in social settings. Additionally, the presentation will include education on The College of New Jersey’s Amnesty policy and the importance of seeking help in alcohol-related emergencies. At least 80% of the chapter must be present at the training, which includes active and newly initiated members. The organization is responsible for coordinating with the offices to schedule this training to take lace by May 1, 2026. [COMPLETED]
  • Social Event Oversight & Risk Management Reflection: The Chapter President, Social Chair, and Risk Chair are required to meet with the Assistant Director for Student Life and the Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life twice to coordinate their next social event with alcohol that is not their formal. This must be completed by May 22, 2026. Leadership must fully complete the Beta Theta Pi Event Planning Guide and then schedule the following meetings with Student life Staff: [COMPLETED]
    • Pre-Event Meeting: To be held at least one week prior to the event to present and review the completed guide and all risk management logistics.
    • Post-Event Meeting: To be held within one week after the event to evaluate the plan’s implementation, discuss successes and challenges, and identify specific improvements for future programming.
  • Risk Management Policy Workshop through Beta Theta Pi Headquarters: All members must participate in a Risk Management Policy workshop presented by a General Fraternity Officer, approved volunteer, and/or Administrative Office staff member. As pre-work to this presentation, all members must complete the Beta Theta Pi Risk Management Policy Lesson. As part of this workshop or immediately following, the chapter must hold a discussion with 80% attendance identifying areas where they excel and are deficient in their adherence to this policy. This discussion must have a General Fraternity Officer, Advisor, and/or Administrative Office staff member present. The chapter must then submit a report on this discussion to the General Fraternity that will include actions the chapter will take to improve any areas of improvement. This must be completed by May 15, 2026.
  • Chapter Officer Online Lessons on Lessonly through Beta Theta Pi Headquarters: All chapter officers must complete the following lessons on Lessonly by April 15, 2026:
    • Backward Timeline Program Planning
    • Must Haves for Social Events
  • Event Planning Guide for Spring 2026 Events through Beta Theta Pi Headquarters: The chapter must complete an Event Planning Guide for any events with alcohol for the remainder of the spring semester. Each completed guide must be submitted for review by the chapter counselor at least two weeks in advance.
