The transition of leadership is one of the most important events for a student organization each year. An effective transition will allow your incoming officers to learn from the experiences of previous officers and will provide your student organization with continuity. For this reason, Student Life is offering a number of training sessions for the month of April.
April 2026: Passing the Torch
April is all about setting your organization up for success! Join us for Passing the Torch, a month-long series of pop-ins, workshops, and coaching sessions designed to help outgoing and incoming leaders navigate a smooth and successful transition.

How it works:
Attend at least one Transition Pop-In session and Signature Event on April 22 to be entered for a chance to win prizes! Attend more to earn more chances to win!!
Transition Pop-Ins:
- Transition Pizza Party – Tuesday, April 14 (12:30-2:30 PM), BSC 216
- Outgoing and Incoming leaders come together, have pizza and work on transitioning by creating a job book that will set next years leaders up for success!
- Book It Open Office Hours –Wednesday’s in April 1, 8, & 15 (2–4 PM) BSC 105 (behind the info desk)
- Session 1 – April 1 | Space Booking 101
- Does BookIt feel intimidating? Not sure where to start for next year’s events? Let’s sit down and chat about booking basics, what to know before you make a space reservation, and things to think about as you’re planning your events.
- Session 2 – April 8 | Talking Tier 3
- So many moving parts go into making Tier 3 events successful. From space admin approval, electrical access, staging and setups, or food trucks to mark out requests, parking lot closures or performance spaces, there’s a lot to consider. Pop in and we can talk flagship and other large events, and make sure you feel confident as you start your 2026-2027 planning.
- Session 3 – April 15 | Rec Center and Athletic Space Bookings
- Whether you’re scheduling your practices for the semester or looking to book an athletic space for a large event, there’s a lot that goes into reserving the Rec Center and other athletics spaces. Special guest, Matt Shade, Sport Clubs Coordinator, will be joining this session too, so come prepared with all your sports club, intramural, and other physical activity events questions.
- Session 1 – April 1 | Space Booking 101
- SFB Treasurers Clinics –Thursday, April 9 (1-3 PM) & Monday, April 13 (2–4 PM) BSC 216
- For new treasurers or existing treasurers looking to learn more about SFB processes. Come to this clinic for one on one training about SFB policies and procedures to set your org up for success next year.
- Leadership Coaching Session- Tuesday, April 14 (12:30-2:30 PM) & Friday, April 17 (2-3 PM) BSC 216
- New to your leadership role on an e-board and don’t know where to start? Stop by for a 1:1 coaching session for some tips and tricks.
