Fraternity and Sorority Life Overview

Fraternity and Sorority Life works closely with the 29 unique Greek organizations at TCNJ. We work with these fraternities and sororities to further promote their values and engage with the entire TCNJ community. Joining a fraternity or sorority gives you the ability to develop your professional and social skills in order to become a better leader in the future.

Did you know that at TCNJ, about 25% of the undergraduate population are a part of the Fraternity and Sorority Life community? Fraternities and sororities provide multiple opportunities for personal and professional development on a local, regional and inter/national level. An investment in fraternity or sorority membership provides academic support, leadership experiences, relationships, career networking, civic engagement opportunities, and the benefits of lifelong affiliation.

TCNJ Greek Life works to ensure and enhance the quality of the entire Greek system and collegiate community. The Inter-Greek Council (IGC) works to bring all of our councils and organizations together, providing programming and educational opportunities for all members. Within the IGC there are three sub-councils:

  • Inter Fraternity Council (IFC)
  • Panhellenic Association (Panhell)
  • Unified Greek Council (UGC)

In addition to those three councils, IGC also oversees four of TCNJ’s professional organizations: Alpha Kappa Psi, Delta Sigma Pi, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Theta Tau. The mission of the Inter-Greek Council is to ensure and enhance the quality of the entire Greek system and collegiate community.

The Office of Student Life is committed to excellence, accountability, transparency and open communication.  We continue to challenge our organizations to create an accepting and inclusive atmosphere for all students, regardless of background or affiliation.

Fraternity and Sorority Fee

Starting the semester after becoming an initiated member, a Fraternity and Sorority Life fee will be assessed to student bills for all members of the fraternity and sorority community until they graduate or terminate their membership with the organization. It was implemented in 2017 to provide additional advisement and staff support, educational and engaging programming specific to fraternities and sororities, and leadership opportunities for the entire fraternal community at TCNJ. It is currently set at $47 each semester. This fee follows the TCNJ refund eligibility schedule that can be accessed here.
